Wedding Shoes?

Maybe!

Another Store...

Yep. There is a Louis Vuitton in my mall. And I don't even live in a big city!

Testing

Im testing the cell phone blogging. Im at the mall looking for shoes. check out the new stores I can't afford.

The Last Day...

Today is my final day to finish getting ready.

I'm just about ready to set off to meet my friend so we can get our nails done. I wanted to take the chance to say farewell to my blog. Not sure if I will get the chance to do any of it while I am out of state. I might set up for cell blogging. If I do Ill post random pictures so you can see what I am up to. If not, Ill probably be back net Wednesday.

I'm so excited and can't wait to take my love's last name :)

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Oh and like I said about the weather on Friday on an earlier post... the weather people were right its cold and rainy today. Good thing I'm not getting married here!

Finishing Touches

Tonight the fiance and I are doing all the final touches for the wedding.

We just got back from the store, we had to pick up our stuff to make our centerpiece. I'm really hoping it turns out okay.

Tomorrow one of my bridesmaids and I are going to get our nails done and get pedicures. Then I have to pick up my shoes. Yea, I know, I'm running a little behind schedule. Most girls would go crazy if they didn't have their shoes 3 days before the wedding. I have to admit though, it is driving me crazy.

Well I'm off to go work on our playlist. I have all our songs downloaded. Just got to put them in order (we're saving money by having an iPod wedding)

Earth Day

Today is Earth Day.

Whether or not you have been able to take the time to plant a tree, turn out your lights, or not use any major appliances, I hope you at least took time to consider about why we even have an Earth Day.

I've been busy. I haven't set the best Earth Day example today. But I do have it on my mind and want to do something to help. No. I'm not a big 'oh my gosh global warming!" person but I do think we should do our part to conserve.

So if you are able to do anything - anything at all - please take the time to think about actually accomplishing that task today. If you don't recycle - start, plant a tree, stop littering, make a donation to your favorite charity. Don't have a favorite charity? Then donate to your local animal shelter or go to Charity Navigator and find a new charity you can trust.

Please, think of others not only on Earth Day, but everyday.

Feeling HOT HOT HOT

It is so hot here anymore!

That's the worst thing about living in Northern California. There is no happy spring period of time. We went from being really cold to really hot. I think we only had a couple of days in the 70s and 80s.

Coming home from work today it was 98 degrees!!! Thats crazy its only April. And to top it off according to the news this morning its supposed to drop all the way to the mid 60s by Friday.

Guess its a good thing I am going to Vegas this weekend!! :)

I Work Hard For My Money

Okay. Not usually.

Some people prefer work to be slow. They like the extra time to talk on the phone, surf the internet, or just daydream.

Not me. I cannot stand being slow. Sometimes yes, it can be nice to have extra time to get some of my personal stuff done but for the most part I can't stand it.

Finally this last week I have been busy. I love the rush. I enjoy being frazzled and looking at the clock saying, "Oh my goodness, its already 3?!!" Those are good days. Its on these days I feel good about myself knowing that I do contribute to my job.

The downside? I'm slacking on my blogging goals. I didn't even have a chance to log in yesterday. Oh well.

Bridal Shower

I cannot describe how fantastic my coworkers are. They are fabulous.

Today they threw me a bridal shower. They completely decorated the conference room with bridal showers decorations and even went above and beyond by doing them all in my colors. Then they brought in tons of food. I don't even know how much I ate. And that's probably not a good thing. Hopefully I fit in my dress next week!

I got tons of fantastic gifts. I total of $105 to Home Depot! Plus $25 to Target, $20 in cash, a 6 quart Crock Pot, a muffin pan, measuring cups, kitchen towels, and a napkin holder.

Yep, they are fantastic.

Some Photos

Today was a really windy day. I wanted to take the dogs out for a walk but it was just too cold. Instead we decided to go for a drive. Here are some pictures we took from it.

The orchard is somewhere out near my house. We were just driving up and down roads when we came across it to do a u-turn.

The tree was down another road. The sun was going down and it was freezing outside so I kind of rushed to take them. Plus I don't have a tripod so quite a few didn't even turn out. I was shaking too much. Oh well. It still is good practice for me.

Its That Time Again...

And my babies are not going to like it!

Both my dogs have an appointment today to go to the vet. They need their rabies shots so I can renew their license. This time they will also need their DHLPP and Bordetella shots because they are going to be kenneled in a few weeks because of the wedding.

My chihuahua doesn't usually mind the vet. He is older and just puts his tail between his legs and deals with it. The puppy I am worried about. I don't know what he is going to do yet. Its his first visit since he was about 3 months old.

I guess we shall see!

No More Blogging!

No more blogging!

Thats what my dog would have said if he could talk.

I was bored and surfing through blogs yesterday while sitting on my couch with my laptop on my lap. My dog decided to squeeze his head in to try and get my attention. I don't think he likes my new addiction to blogging...

Cha Cha

Okay, I have no idea how long this has been around but I just discovered it today and I love it. Its called Cha Cha.

Basically what it is is 411. But instead of just asking for phone numbers or addresses you can ask anything. And I mean ANYTHING.

You can ask normal questions like what time does Home Depot close at ___ address? Or how much does a honey baked ham cost? But people even ask questions such as can you tell me a joke? Or where do babies come from?

Try it out! Its fun. Its a great way to solve debates when you are not near a computer to Google it yourself.

Just send a text message to 242242 and ask away! Its completely free! (But remember standard text message fees apply).

You can also get more info on them yourself at http://www.chacha.com

And no, I don't work for them. But I am thinking about it!!

My Favorite Flower

This is my favorite flower in my backyard. Its different looking which makes it interesting. I planted it about 3 years ago when I first moved in to my house. For the life of me though I cannot remember what type of flower it is.

Canada's Commercial Seal Hunt

As you may or may not know Canada is currently in the middle of their seal hunt. Canada allows for hunters to go out into the icy waters to beat, shoot, and club seals repeatedly so that they can have their fur.

The Humane Society International is working to stop these unnecessary evil deaths being caused to an animal for their fur. Please visit the Humane Society of the United States website to donate and help try to put an end to the unnecessary killings. You can visit the site at http://www.hsus.org/.

There is good news however. With more and more people and businesses promising to go fur free the price of fur is dropping. Its being reported that the price for seal skins has dropped to $15 which won't even be enough for these killers to break even at the end of the season. With your help this could be the last year the seal hunt takes place. If Canada can finally take a stand then laws can be passed to make this cruel enterprise disappear.

For a day to day report of what is happening with the seal hunt please visit this link: http://www.hsus.org/marine_mammals/marine_mammals_news/live_from_the_ice_2009.html

Please be warned below are some graphic pictures of this seal hunt. Seeing these pictures is the only way to see the true horrors of this enterprise.

April Showers Brings May Flowers

It's raining again. After having three weeks of 70 degree weather its back into the 50s. Yeah I know its a lot colder many other places but were used to the sun here.
I did see a break in the clouds so I took a picture.

Marley and Me

Last night I watched the movie Marley and Me. I put off watching it for awhile because I had read the book when it first came out. I was worried the movie would ruin the book by making too many changes.

The movie ended up being really good. Yes, there were some changes but nothing major enough to ruin it. I highly recommend seeing it, especially if you are an animal lover. It really shows you whats its like to have animals through the good times and bad. My all time favorite quote came from the book (and the movie).

"A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water log stick will do just fine. A dog doesn't care if your rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he'll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?" - John Groban

Any dog owner who truly loves their pet will know how true that quote is.

The Bird Feeder Has Been Discovered

Finally after four days the birds in my neighborhood have discovered the bird feeder I hung in the backyard.

I got home today to find a quarter of the seeds missing from the feeder and most of those seeds on the ground :)

Now they just have to take advantage of the bird house!

To Have Kids... Or Not to Have Kids....

Since the fiance and I are getting married this month we are constantly getting the question, "So when are you going to start having kids?" You know, if one more person asks me that question I'm going to start screaming.

The fiance is 100% completely against ever having kids. He expresses this opinion anytime children are even brought up in a conversation. Me on the other hand, I cannot make up my mind. I have always said I didn't want kids but I worry about what I will miss by not having them. I know I am not ready to have any now, but if I have any I want to do it in the next 7 or so years. Nothing against anyone who has kids later in life, I just want to be done by the time I am in my mid 30's. But do I really want to? Kids drive me crazy I do not have the energy or the patience to keep up with them.

Today I read this article: http://www.cnn.com/2009/LIVING/personal/04/07/p.missing.woman.love.with/index.html. The article really depressed me. This is one of the biggest things I worry about when it comes to having children. I don't want to lose that connection I have with my fiance. I see it happen way to often with friends and family who do have children. Even earlier this week I was reading a blog and the lady mentioned that their new infant sleeps in bed with her every night and because their isn't enough room her husband has been sleeping on the couch for 10 months. I think that's horrific. You husband should come first, especially when it comes to who sleeps in the bed! How can a relationship last if the second a new child comes the spouse is booted out of the room?

It's these things and the responsibility factor that scares me. Its obvious kids shouldn't be coming anytime soon into our family. Now I just need to figure out if they should ever.

Canine Castaway

Could you imagine loosing your dog overboard during a storm while sailing in the middle of an ocean? Well, thats what happened to a couple while sailing on holiday off the coast of Queensland. You can check out the full article on BBC's website here http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7986816.stm

After loosing the dog while going through some choppy waters they went back looking for her with no luck. Assuming the dog was lost they left the waters.

Turns out amazingly the story has a happy ending. The dog was able to swim five nautical miles to make it onto a small island. There the dog lived off of baby goats until rangers who patrol the islands saw the dog running wild. Can you imagine what the dog must have been going through durign all of this?

I'm so happy for the dogs safe return to the family and hope next time they at least put a life jacket on their dog before boating.

Fast and Furious

Yesterday we went and saw Fast and Furious, the fourth movie in the Fast and the Furious franchise.

I have to say I never saw the 3rd movie. Fast and the Furious 2 (or whatever the title was) was just dumb so I never went back for the 3rd. However with Vin Diesel and all the original cast in the 4th movie I decided it may be worth my money.

Without giving away anything the 4th movie actually was pretty good. They had some good races in it and a decent storyline. Some good new characters were brought in the movie and it wasn't too long or too short.

I would still rate the first movie as the best but if you liked it I would recommend giving this one a shot.

Backyard

Yesterday the fiance and I spent quite a bit of time working on the backyard. We bought gravel, rocks, and yet another plant.

Its all starting to come together. I can't wait until the plants are full grown so I can really see how it will all tun out. A couple of the plants are annuals but mostly I only got perennials so they can grow very large.

We also put up the birdhouse and the bird feeder I got. Now I just need to find a bird bath that I like. Even though everything is very small right now its already starting to have an effect. I have seen more little birds in my backyard then ever before. Even more honey bees then I am used to.
Above are pictures of just part of the backyard.

Next Blog >>

I have found some of the best blogs by using the Next Blog >> button at the top of the screen.

I can spend hours just hitting that button waiting to come across a blog that catches my interest. I have found fantastic sites about fashion in New York City and Los Angeles. I discovered an Iranian man who photographs people he meets on the street. I saw a blog about a man in the San Francisco area who ferments his own food to make breads, wines, and other creations. I saw a blog done by a painter in Maine. I have read about people's families, children and pets. People of all ages blog and whether or not anything is relevant a lot of it is interesting. So I encourage you, start hitting that button, you will be amazed at what you can learn and discover.

My only complaint about using the Next Blog button is that you don't have the option of only looking at blogs in English. I'm sure those other blogs are interesting but I just can't read them. Oh well, just have to hit the button an extra time to move to the next one.

Go to College to see..... a Porno Movie?

According to a Sacramento Bee news article I read today UC Davis will be showing a pornography movie on campus in their chemistry lecture hall.

And it's not just UC Davis, it's also UCLA, Carnegie Mellon University, and a handful other campuses also.

I guess the porn flick is being shown for free at campuses who would like to show it. I get why the maker of the film would want to show it. I'm sure it gives great publicity.

Do I have something against it? Not really. Just not something I have seen at my campus. I'm sure anyone who goes to see it probably watches them outside of the school anyway. Its just weird to me thinking about going into a lecture room to watch a porno with a bunch of classmates. And what if one of your teachers showed up? How weird! But to each his own.

Allergies

I have never in my life suffered from any type of allergy. Why today then?

Growing up in the Sacramento Valley in California I have always heard. If you don't have allergies now you will get them! Everyone always does.... Well, I never believed them. Not me I thought, never. But here I am at work just wishing I could breathe through my nose.

During lunch I ran over to a local store and picked up their version of Clariton. Its not helping yet. I have no idea how long it takes. I'm just hoping it starts to work before I have to get on my bus to go home. Nobody ever appreciates the person sitting next to them blowing their nose.

I really hope this allergy thing is just caused by the wind we have had lately. I get married in a few weeks. This is one of the last things I want to deal with on that day.

Conficker Worm

Today is the day the Conficker Worm is scheduled to change its programming. Will it make any difference in my life? I have no idea. As far as I know none of my computers have been infected. But is it something I am going to worry about? Absolutely not. I have nothing better to do then be on the Internet so I'm not going to stop that just because of some worm.

Have you been infected by this worm? Don't know how to tell? Well from what I hear the easiest way to find out is to attempt to log into Microsoft's website or into any major virus protection website. Supposedly the Conficker Worm blocks these sites to make it more difficult for you to get rid of it.

Oh yeah, and if you know who is responsible for this worm Microsoft is offering a $250,000 bounty for any information leading to an arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible. I sure wish I knew em'.

Fish Tycoon

I just bought a new application for my ipod touch called Fish Tycoon. It is such an addicting game!! I highly recommend trying it out.

Basically in the game it is your job to grow and breed different species of fish. The goal is to unlock 7 of the special species in the game. As you breed your fish you also have to run your business successfully. So you raise and sell the fish to try and turn a profit. With the money you earn you can buy new products to put in your fish tanks.

The game is played in real time so it isn't something you can beat in a day. It forces you to be patient. It is easily worth the $1.99 it costs to download.
